# Self-custody recovery tabletop

A facilitator's educational guide using fictional scenarios. It does not establish the security, backup completeness or recoverability of a participant's actual wallet.

## Session agreement

Agree the learning objective, scope, availability and fee before accepting a session. Use no customer funds, actual wallet addresses, recovery words, passphrases, private keys, backup locations or screenshots of recovery material. The participant retains all control. The facilitator never generates keys or performs a recovery.

## Six scenarios and observable learning outcomes

1. **Boundaries.** Fictional support asks to see a recovery phrase. The participant explains why neither support nor the educator should receive it. Record the educational result without any secret.
2. **Device loss.** A fictional device is unavailable. The participant identifies the need for the appropriate official recovery procedure and required backup components, without describing their actual backup arrangements.
3. **Backup completeness.** A fictional backup may omit necessary recovery information. The participant explains why completeness must be verified against official documentation and why a screenshot or one file may not be enough. Do not inventory their real backup.
4. **Impersonated support.** A fictional message links to a site that asks for recovery words. The participant rejects the request and explains how to reach the real vendor independently.
5. **Software verification.** A fictional download may be impersonated. The participant explains how to locate official instructions and verify the software using the vendor's documented process. Do not install or operate a real wallet during this tabletop.
6. **Follow-up.** The participant identifies learning gaps and writes a non-sensitive next-learning plan. Additional hands-on work would need its own explicit scope and appropriate expertise.

Record Not tested, Needs work, or Pass for each educational criterion. A Pass needs a reference to a non-sensitive facilitator note or participant-reviewed learning record. No financial holdings or actual security architecture belongs in the assessment. A passing tabletop is not a certification, security audit or actual recovery drill.

A useful paid session provides personal feedback and identifies misunderstood decisions. Generic guides remain available for repetition and reference. Do not advertise unverified facilitator credentials, recovery guarantees or outcomes from fictional examples.
